Therapeutic Life Story Work
Our practitioners are professionally trained by Berry Street who have partnered with the founder of Therapeutic Life Story Work International, Richard Rose.
Therapeutic Life Story Work is a gentle, evidence-based approach that supports children, young people, and adults to make sense of their life experiences in a safe, supported way.
It is particularly helpful for people who have experienced trauma, loss, family separation, out-of-home care, disrupted attachments, or complex family histories.
This work goes beyond simply telling a story. It is a carefully paced therapeutic process that helps people:
-
Understand their life experiences in context
-
Build a coherent and compassionate sense of identity
-
Reduce shame, confusion, and self-blame
-
Strengthen emotional regulation and resilience
-
Support healing in relationships and attachment
Therapeutic Life Story Work can be especially beneficial for:
-
Children and young people in foster care, kinship care, or adoption
-
Individuals impacted by family violence or neglect
-
Adults wanting to understand how early experiences continue to shape their lives
-
Families and carers seeking to support a child’s emotional wellbeing
All work is delivered in a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and developmentally appropriate way, with careful attention to safety, consent, and emotional readiness. Sessions are tailored to the individual and may include creative, narrative, and reflective approaches.
Our aim is to provide a safe, respectful space where stories can be explored with care — supporting healing, understanding, and growth at each person’s own pace.
